Quick setup for the GSM CDS-1900 - How do I activate the CDS-1900?

1900 modem
  • Get Sim Card
    • Call AT&T "Schuyler Roberts" (805-395-0478 or cellular 805-395-0478)
      • “schuyler.roberts@cingular.com”
      • request a mobile terminated connection SIM with a DATA PLAN
      • You will receive a SIM card with a telephone # and a 20 digit SIM #
      • You will be issued an IMIE #
      • Call 888-444-4410 to activate the Modem.
  • Connect to the Modem via the RS232 cable. Set the port for 115,200 baud rate.
  • Type AT. The response will be
  • Type AT+XCNFG? response will be the current configuration
  • Type AT+XCNFG=2,1,”internet” This changes the APN (Access point name”
  • Type AT+XCNFG=1,1,”Modem Phone number”
  • Re-start the modem
  • AT+XSTAT reports the current IP address
  • Typing the following command in the CMD prompt of a Windows machine will give you the current IP address of the telephone number
  • To change the baud rate
    • AT+IPR? this returns the current baud rate
    • AT+IPR=38400 sets to 38400
  • Setup the reporting of the unit’s IP address (UDP)
    • AT+XCNFG=6,2 < IP current>
    • AT+XCNFG=7,2 current port
    • AT+XCNFG=6,1,”76.12.35.241”
    • AT+XCNFG=7,1,”4001”
  • Setup the reporting of the LAT/LONG (UDP)
    • AT+XCNFG=10,2 < IP current>
    • AT+XCNFG=11,2 current port
    • AT+XCNFG=10,1,”76.12.35.241”
    • AT+XCNFG=11,1,”3001”
  • Set UP the reporting time of the LAT/LONG
    • AT+XCNFG=21,1,600 This sets the reporting time to every 60 seconds
      • This value is expressed as 100 msec increments
